Worshipped by Sage Angeerasa, this temple is located at the South Mada street very close to the Kapaleeswarar temple. The legend has it that Asura Guru Sukracharyar worshipped Shiva here in order to regain his vision.
A Kumbhabhishekam, performed here once in 26 years, is a major ritual Brahmotsavam, a ten day festival, celebrated here during May/June draws a large number of people.
The temple is situated very near to HRTS station, Mylapore and is thus very accessable to visit Mylapore and the nearby temples.
This is an ancent and beautiful temple worth visiting. Being very close to Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, one can defnitely plan to include this temple also while visiting Chennai and Mylapore.
